⚠️ How Credit Repair Companies Hurt Your Mortgage Approval
Most credit repair companies dispute every derogatory tradeline, whether it’s accurate or not.
When a tradeline is in dispute, it’s temporarily removed from the credit scoring model. That means your score is artificially inflated and not considered accurate by mortgage lenders.
The mortgage industry knows this tactic well, and lenders treat disputed accounts very differently.
🏡 How Disputed Tradelines Affect Different Loan Types
FHA Loans
• Allows up to $1,000 in disputed tradelines (medical bills excluded).
• Above $1,000, the file is downgraded to a manual underwrite.
• Manual underwriting is stricter and allows lower debt ratios and less derogatory credit than automated approvals.
VA Loans
• Similar rules to FHA, but with no dollar limit.
• Even $100 in disputed tradelines can trigger a manual underwrite.
Conventional Loans
• Typically decline borrowers with just 2–3 disputed tradelines, regardless of dollar amount.
